Clinical and Consumer Engagement

Innovation and healthcare improvement is best supported through co-design processes, where innovators and organisations delivering healthcare services are actively engaged in the design process with consumers and clinicians, understanding what people need and want.

The proposed work stream activity within this theme was focused upon building an understanding of strategies that have worked to improve digital health literacy, and the role of co-design in addressing the needs of patients and clinicians in their efforts to use digital health technologies to support better health and care across countries.


Draft work stream deliverables include:

  • Documenting international comparisons of concepts relating to digital health literacy, such as definitions and examples of policy and initiatives to improve this amongst clinicians and consumers
  • Sharing international best practice and developing a mechanism such as a survey tool to compare policy and initiatives that are driving engagement of clinicians and consumers and their adoption of digital technologies (including socially isolated and hard to reach communities, payment models)
